Bikeskills’ Jackie Baker holds our first Focus on Female clinic in the state of Utah and tells us a little bit about it.

The Sun Shone on Our First Park City Bikeskills Clinic!
The rain stopped falling in Park City, UT just long enough for the Bikeskills Focus on the Female clinic to make good use of Glenwild’s stellar trail conditions. All of the women taking the clinic had experience riding Park City’s trails, but were looking to ride more terrain with more confidence.

We warmed up at the trailhead with some basic skills practice, including learned how to stand balanced on our bikes, using our vision to our advantage, learning to pick up our front and rear wheels, and learning how to track stand.

Once on the trail, we worked on line choice and proper balance while ascending and descending rocky terrain, and how to negotiate uphill and downhill switchbacks. Our three women were excellent learners and were eager to try tasks and obstacles several times to get them right. The clinic was as inspirational for me as it was for them! Park City’s riding can go from smooth to rooted to rocky in an instant, so all of these skills will certain improve the girls’ confidence and safety on the trails. Just as we wrapped up the session under the pavilion, the dark clouds rolled back in, but we experienced perfect riding conditions!
If you missed this clinic, or were worried about the weather, join me next month, on July 25, for another beginner/intermediate trail riding clinic for women at the Spring Creek Trailhead in Park City . You can email me at jackie@bikeskills.com for more information.
Thanks to the ladies who braved the weather and were rewarded with beautiful riding conditions on Saturday!
