During more than a decade as a professional
mountain bike racer, BikeSkills’ instructor Joe
Lawwill stood at the top of many podiums, including
one that earned him the title of Masters Downhill World
Champion in 2002. Along the way, he learned a great
deal about the professional sports in general, as well
as the business and the lifestyle aspects of mountain
biking in particular.
Joe takes a break from teaching the
art and science of mountain biking and shares his thoughts,
observations, and opinions about being a pro.

Bikeskills Milestone: Our first clinic conducted outside

place to ride some of the biggest and best waves on
the planet; but mountain biking? What about the locals?
What would they think of California Boy Joe Lawwill
invading their turf?
