Bikeskills’ Chief Electrical Engineer, Ed Becker, takes to the skies over Fresno. California’s Central Valley may be hard hit economically, but the boys and girls we met at Fresno’s new Woodward Bike Park were hitting it hard, and having fun while doing so.

About the first thing you notice at Fresno’s Woodward Bike Park is: there’s a lot of cool stuff! This shot is taken in the “North Shore” zone. And while the stunts and skill builders are B.C. inspired, they’re built close to the ground to make them as safe as possible. We like that.

Jiro Nakamura on the left and Bikeskills Fresno’s JP Sickler on the right demonstrate pro-level trials skills in the North Shore Zone

On to the Jump Zone where Jiro had this guy flying straight in no time. There’s something about capturing the perfect jump and landing in a picture – nothing like the real thing, but it still feels good!

Sort of like a surfer looking at a picture of waves our guess is that this shot will get most dirt jumpers and park riders fired up. And when you consider that there are another 30+ of these, that should get them all wound-up and headed to Fresno!

Jumping really tires you out. It’s important to take frequent breaks. If you even start to feel fatigued, pack it in. Here JP, Ed, and Jiro practice what they preach and take five.

Yes, the park has a ripping Pump Track too. Notice how Jiro’s eyes are looking up and through the turn; that is how it’s supposed to be done.

The clinic wasn’t all fun and games. Jiro plays the role of Good Samaritan and fixes this young lady’s flat tire. Jiro also pointed out that it’s always a good idea to carry the tools and spares you need to deal with stuff like this. Not sure, but the body language made us wonder if they were in to the lecture…

The Team and some new friends call it a day. Jiro gave JP the full Bikeskills certification to teach future clinics at the Woodward Bike Park so look for more clinics soon!
